The first announcement of the Conference was provided from Lena-Nordenskiöld Biological Station. The Conference has pre-conference tour to Lena Delta.
An International Conference The Sustainable Arctic - Sustainable North - Sustainable World will be held in the City of Yakutsk, Sakha Republic, Russia, 4-7 August, 2003. The Conference will address the issues of international cooperation in environmental protection and security in the Arctic and the North.

Conference organizers: the Northern Forum and The Conference is aimed at the development of international cooperation to provide environmental security and sustainable development of artic and northern regions. |
Conference sessions:
Northern ecosystem preservation as a global factor of biosphere sustainability;
Environmental security and reasonable resource use;
Northern ethnic culture and traditional environmental knowledge.
Post-conference events include sight-seeing tours in Yakutia:
Lena Delta tour
Oimyakon, the Pole of Cold
Moma National Park: nature of mountain northeastern provinces
Kytalyk Resource Reserve: nesting sites of Siberian white crane
Ust-Vilyui National Nature Park: ornithological and fishing paradise
Olyokminski Reserve: Southern Yakutia's nature
Kempendyai and Muosany Lakes: nature "pearls" of Western Yakutia
The tour costs are available upon receiving applications.
