Introduction to the Network Sites Kushiro-shitsugenHokkaido, Japan [ in Japanese ] [ Back ] |
Kushiro-shitsugen is an extensive marshy floodplain with several small freshwater lakes along the river Kushiro-gawa, on the southern Coast of eastern Hokkaido, Japan (42°59'N, 144°24'E). In the total area of the marsh of 29,084 ha, the core area of 7,726 ha have been designated to the Ramsar Site.
The wetland supports 950 Thick-billed Bean Goose Anser fabalis serrirostris and 500 Middendorf's Bean Goose A.f. middendorfi.
The management authority of the Site, which has joined to the activities of the Anatidae Site Network is:
