Here we would like to collect the activities celebrating WWD 2001, 2 February 2001, the 30th anniversary of Ramsar Convention on Wetlands in and around the Anatidae Network Sites and other key sites for Anatidae populations in the Flyway. Hoping you to join and enjoy the various activities shown here if you have chances, with making contact with the organisers of each activity.

Thale Noi Non Hunting Area, Thailand: Wetlands International - Thailand Programme plans to organise a 2-day celebration around World Wetlands Day, including drawing and colouring competitions, wetland quiz, poetry reading contests, wetland exhibition, shadow puppet show with environmental conservation theme, and famous personalities' speech on wetlands. Society for the Conservation of Philippines Wetlands, Inc. launched its website, with celebrating World Wetlands Day 2001, in the Symposium on Wetland Management on 2 February 2001 in Quezon City. The former Secretary of Department of Environment and Natural Resource, Mr. Victor O. Ramos pushed the button of its launch: http://www.psdn.org.ph/wetlands/. It reports wetlands of international importance in the country including Naujan Lake National Park, a Network Site in Mindoro Oriental, as well as projects and activities of the Society. The activities for WWD 2001 of the Society have been announced there, including the programme of the Symposium on the 2nd where the Flyway Officer was provided an opportunity to introduce the Anatidae Site Network briefly.
In a Network Site in the Philippines, Naujan Lake National Park, waterbird census was conducted on 3 Feb, co-ordinated by the the Protected Areas and Wildlife Bureau. The site is of international importance for Tufted Duck Aythya fuligula and 11,580 ducks were counted in the census (refer to the report).
Mai Po & Inner Deep Bay and other wetlands in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, People's Republic of China: The Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department is organizing a series of programmes with local NGOs to raise public awareness of wetland conservation during February 2001, including wetland exhibitions, photo & drawing competition, Junior Bird Watching Race, and Clean Ramsar Site Competition. Katano Kamoike, Kaga City, Japan:
28 Jan 2001 (06:30-08:00 AM): An observation of morning flight of waterbirds (especially White-fronted Goose) from the roost (the Lake) to the foraging sites (rice fields around)
